The Pareto Frontier (the cyan line) connects the optimal models at any given time. A model is on the frontier if there is no alternative model that is both cheaper and smarter. As you slide the timeline forward, you can watch major releases reshape the market landscape.

Methodology

• Intelligence (Y-axis): Sourced from the community-driven LMSYS Chatbot Arena Elo ratings.
• Cost (X-axis, Logarithmic): Blended API Cost per 1 Million Tokens, assuming a standard 3:1 ratio (75% input tokens, 25% output tokens).
• Timeline: Models appear on the graph based on their official release dates. Note that Elo scores represent current standing, assuming a model's raw intelligence remains relatively static from launch.
